10/9/22 – A Healthy Church

A Healthy Church – 1 Peter 2, part 2

Peter was one of the original members of the “living stones” who compromised and helped build the church. He certainly has a few things to tell us in this first letter about the characteristics of a healthy church. Let’s take heed…….

A healthy church WORSHIPS the Lord Jesus Christ

“…you also, a living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:5

A healthy church WITNESSES FOR the Lord Jesus Christ

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light  1 Peter 2:9

A healthy church WORKS FOR the Lord Jesus Christ

Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.  1 Peter 2:11-12
