Nehemiah 2

The book of Nehemiah covers an important period of biblical history because both the captivity/exile and the return and restoration of the Jewish nation were fulfillments of Old Testament prophecies of Jeremiah, Daniel and Isaiah. They serve as further evidence of the validity of the Bible. Not only that, but as we’ll see today, an event in the life of Nehemiah served as the reference point for the prophecy of Daniel regarding the exact day of arrival of Jesus on Palm Sunday/Triumphal Entry.

Re-read Nehemiah 2

1. Follow the steps of Nehemiah’s “moment of truth” before the king. How much time did it take? How did he get to that place?

2. Why is it significant that Nehemiah took a moment to pray before answering the king? What can we learn from this? How did God answer?

3. How does Nehemiah’s approach to a “non-believer” when making a godly request provide a good model for us to follow?

4. Nehemiah showed great concern for Jerusalem and for its people. How do you show your concern for your local church?
