What’s your price?

Scripture :  Mark 14:1-11

Imagine this evening that you are one of the inner circle with Christ. Imagine eating with Him, talking with Him, walking with Him, sitting at His feet. Being there for the miracles, watching Him heal, watching Him witness, listening as He taught the word of God. Then imagine betraying Him. Imagine turning Him over to those who would kill Him. And doing it all for 30 pieces of silver.

The price that caused Judas to betray Christ was 30 pieces of silver. The price that caused him to ruin him testimony – 30 pieces of silver. The price that eventually led to his suicide – 30 pieces of silver

That was his price.

But all of us have a price. All who have ever lived have had a price.  A price that would make us forsake our testimony. A price that would make us give it all up

Judas price was 30 pieces of silver. Ananias and Saphira price was a portion of some property. Demas price was the love of the world. Elvis Presley price was fame and fortune. Some Christian’s price is a pretty smile or a wink of the eye

We hear it all the time

Someone who claims to be a Christian but lives like the devil. Someone who claims to love the Lord, but lives like they love the world. What caused them to do that? What was their price?

Some people have a high price.  Some people’s price is higher than pain. Some people’s price is higher than their very lives.

Some examples of people with a high price are in the Foxe’s Book of Martyrs.

They could have been free. They didn’t even have to mean what they said. They could have just lied and went their way. Those people had a high price. Their testimonies were more important than their lives. Their love for the Lord was more important to them that life itself.

The 3 Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace had a high price. . No one would have blamed them. They were under the authority of the Babylonians. They were just doing what their leader told them.

All of us have something, some price, that makes us lose our testimony. What is yours?

Is it a long wait in line that makes your blood boil and makes you say something that would affect your testimony?

Is it another car on the road that is going too slow?

An injustice done to you?

What is it that makes you angry? What is it that makes you bitter against someone? What is it that makes you hate someone? What’s your price? What is it that gets under your skin? That’s make you say something that you know you shouldn’t say?

Proverbs 16:32 – He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Psalm 119:165 – Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them

Do you have that peace? Do you love the Lord with that kind of love?

What is your price?
