Behold the Branch!

John CHAPTER 19  1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. 2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, 3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands. 4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. 5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! 6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. Here we see Jesus, beaten, scourged with the cat-o-nine tails, spit upon, mocked, with a crown of thorns on His brow and wearing a purple robe. Then Pilate calls Him out before the crowd and cries out “Behold the Man”. And as we look upon Him here, we realize that he went through all that for our sins. He willingly took my beating, paid my price for sins and stood there for the crowd’s mockery. Pilate tried to remove his blame, but Jesus paid the price for all, even for Pilate and those that mocked Him.   But when we look at Zechariah 6:12 we see a different time pictured.     Zechariah 6:10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah; 11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;   Zechariah was to go to the homes of these men, get gold and then have crowns made. Then he was to take the crowns and place them on the Joshua, the son of Josedech.   12And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name isThe BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD       The BRANCH in Zechariah is a name for the Messiah. Joshua, was here a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ. When He came the first time, He came to suffer and die. That’s what Pilate and the crowd saw, A broken, beaten, bleeding Man. But one day, He will return. And at that time He will return as the Branch, as King to rule over the Earth. Crowned with glory. And the Lord will cry out – Behold the Man whose name is the Branch.
